This policy describes how Memory Dive handles information on Apple Vision Pro.
In short: Memory Dive never uploads or collects your photos. To name places, approximate photo locations are sent to Apple Maps. Photos stored in iCloud download from Apple to show at full size.
1. Data We Collect
Memory Dive does not collect personal data. It requires no account, contains no analytics, advertising or tracking, has no third-party SDKs, and sends nothing to Active Outcome. The only network requests it causes go to Apple services, described below.
Your photos — if you allow access, Memory Dive reads your Photos library on the device to arrange it into scenes. Image analysis that keeps private-looking photos out of automatic picks runs on the device. Your Hidden album and screenshots are never read. Memory Dive never deletes, edits or uploads a photo; the only change it can make to your library is the Favorite mark, and only when you heart a photo yourself.
Place names (Apple Maps) — to show where photos were taken, Memory Dive asks Apple Maps to name areas. It sends approximate locations (the center of an area roughly 25 km across), never the photos themselves. These requests are handled by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy; Active Outcome never receives them.
Photos in iCloud — if your library is stored in iCloud Photos, full-size versions download from Apple to your device when they are shown.
Purchases — the optional Every Year purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store. Memory Dive only checks on the device whether you own it. We never see your payment details.
Hands and surroundings — Memory Dive uses visionOS tracking to place scenes around you and, if you allow hand tracking, to make light react to your hands, show the controls when you reach for them and let you pick up a print with your fingertips. This data is used in the moment on the device and is never stored or sent.
Gestures — you look at a print and pinch. visionOS handles these system gestures on the device; the app receives only the resulting interaction, never where you look.
Settings and caches — your preferences, the list of photos you hid from Memory Dive (stored as photo identifiers), and on-device caches of place names and of which photos are safe to pick automatically are stored only on your device.
2. Sharing
We do not sell or share personal information. Apple may process download, purchase and rating information through the App Store under Apple’s own policies.
3. Retention
Settings and caches remain on your device until you delete the app. You can turn off Photos access at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Photos.
4. Children
Memory Dive does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
5. Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date will change when we do.
Memory Dive collects no personal data, so there is nothing to opt out of. To stop Memory Dive reading your photos, turn off its access in Settings. To remove its settings and caches, delete the app.
